Patch updates and photos

new allottmenteer

At last after several years of waiting i've finally got myself an allottment.
it's in a bit of state at the moment (full of all sorts of weeds, stones, old pairs of gloves????) It's a fair size so it's going to take me quite some time before I can get into the serious stuff of growing veg.
I cleared a patch of six foot by four foot this p.m. of all kinds of rubbish and old leeks. only about 90 by 12 foot to go. All I can say at the moment is that the soil looks to be in excellent condition. I wish I could say the same for my muscles.

Used to have a house with a decent garden
grew veg for a number of years the quality and quantity of which improved year on year with plenty of elbow grease in making the clay type soil more fertile with much addition of compost and manure
plus of course the weeding (used to have loads of couch grass and mares tail). Now we live in a first floor flat which has a balcony on which i am growing toms lettuce spring onions and strawbs. But, like everywhere in the UK at the moment, the weather is too wet and cool. Hope it improves soon
have got some photos of our garden somewhere. I will post them when I find them.d
